COLORADO KID
Painting Design by Olva Stewart Pharo
Each artist starts out with a "blank slate" horse form.
They can change the surface or not. As a sculptor I had to
correct some of the anatomy such as the eyes
and add some detail to the mane and tail.

Day One Painting
Starting the "COLORADO KID". First blocking out the design with red and yellow.
Day Two Painting
Adding orange and turquoise to the design. I like the way the turquoise and the red-orange bounce.
Day Three Painting
Adding more detail.
Day Four Painting
Moved it home to finish it up. Deepened the hue of the yellow.
Added black to the eyes. Makes the eyes more alive. Started to add the gold.
Finished "COLORADO KID"
I submitted the drawing on the right of a red & orange foal.
On the right is how it turned out with some requested changes by the NAM staff.
